McKissack & McKissack
Students stepped inside McKissack & McKissack to experience a living example of Black enterprise, architecture, engineering and generational legacy. The visit connected conversations about Black builders, entrepreneurship and professional excellence to a real working firm.

Remembering the Ancestors
African Burial Ground
At the African Burial Ground National Monument in Lower Manhattan, students encountered the history of free and enslaved Africans whose lives and labor helped shape early New York. They explored historical evidence and spent time in a memorial space honoring the ancestors.
Learning our history means encountering the evidence, honoring the ancestors and understanding how the past continues to shape the present.
