Learning by doing
More than a lemonade stand.
The Stand turns a familiar childhood business into a living classroom. Students move from an idea to a finished product, then take that product into the community. Along the way, they practice mathematics, financial literacy, reading and writing, communication, branding, customer service, collaboration and problem-solving.
Because students can see the results of their decisions in real time, academic skills have a purpose: they help the team build something, explain something, price something, improve something or serve someone.

A curriculum students can see, touch and own.
The goal is not simply to teach students how to sell lemonade. The Stand gives them a place to make decisions, communicate ideas, test solutions, learn from outcomes and understand how their skills can create value for other people.
Future extensions of The Stand can connect this real-world experience to classroom tools, including student flash cards, storytelling and the Mahogany Hills learning universe.
